Why has some trail signs been painted over and posted

Why has some of the trail numbers been painted over and posted signs put up such as on T27? We noticed this a couple of times. Someone has painted over the trail numbers with black spray paint and put posted signs up. The orange "Brimstone" signs was painted over too. On 27 they had shot some trees till they fell over in the trail. :?:

These are vandal's at work, I guess they will start tearing them down like Windrock when they run out of paint......Allways jerks and troublemakers trying to ruin things, we will have to start hanging new signs this week....As far as T27 I will look at what trail that is and get back to you, alot of these signs were put up before Brimstone was leased and many do not apply now, some are private property within the Brimstone borders, as long as you stay on the trails you are OK, off either side of the trail and you are on private proerty in some spots......I will check on T27.....

No the Posted signs on 27 have just been put up. We went through there a couple of weeks ago and they were not there. There is some along a few trails that were there before and like you said that is private property. But the some of them are new and some have been put up at the beginning of trails that are on the map. We seen several at the beginning of some trails that had been painted. We knew that it was someone who just didn't like the fact that atv's are in there but o'well. They can get over it. If they don't own it they can't do anything about it. And it is not going to keep us from riding it!

The reason they are painting them is they are mad over the permit system, everyone want's something for free nowadays and want someone else to pay....we will deal with it.......T27 on the map is supposed to be the River trail and it id definitely on Brimstone property so I don't know why there are signs up, i will find out though.......

No biggy. Like I said I knew it was not correct so I didn't pay mutch attention to it. It wasn't just 27 there was one or two others but I can't think of the numbers off hand. They are in that same area. But its no big deal. Just wanted you to know someone was putting up posted signs and spray painting the trail numbers black and painting over the "orange" Brimstone signs.

I can see just by reading that the locals are being real asses.  I dont see any of them putting hard sweat and tears into keeping the land open so people can ride the trails period.   looks to me like they would rather sit around a b*$&# about it instead of helping out.  they could put up gates  and fences and start enforcing and giving tickets for transpassing and taking machines if you get caught on the land period.  thats what is happening around here.  yall should consider yourselfs lucky to have somewhere like that area to ride.

Nope, it is a few of the locals and i bet you could count them on two hands, 1-2 being the ringleaders and the others are followers for lack of things to do. A few people have the old mentality of "my granddad and his son had the run of the place and i am going to do it too", regardless of who owns or runs it.

The best way to handle it, IMO, would be to repost, repaint, and repair the signs. Taking an iron fisted attitude would only escalate the vandalism.  The tortoise and the hare fable comes to mind. steady perserverance will overcome.

Stakk , you have a pm coming your way :)
