Any place to RV camp at trail head
« on: February 28, 2008, 09:08:17 AM »
High all, A group of us from the south ATL area are looking to make it up there this summer. We have rode at WR for a few years now, but we are looking for some new trails.

I have not seen any info on RV campimg at the trail head. We dont need hook ups because we're self contained, but we cant tow back and forth to the trails once we get set up.

My rigg is a 26' Winniebetter and 18' trailer and a friend has a 26' toyhauler, so we need alittle space to park.

Brimstone sounds great and sure am looking forward to making it up there, the gravel roads are getting alittle old if you know what I mean.

There is the city park behind the jail down by the river. We have camped there several times and its possible to get too with a big unit like u talked about. Some big Motorhomes were down there camping last Memorial day with motorhomes and enclosed trailers. There are also 2 spots with some hookups on the way down the street by the permit office but it would be best to call Ericka at the permit office.

hope that info helps a little more!  8)

Hey, Thanks for the info, We're trying to get a feel for the place so we can plan ahead.
We're going up to Black Mountain park in April,(Hopefully) so we may try and run by and check things out on our way back. About how far off the interstate is Huntsville?
  Thanks again,  CB

Huntsville is about 20 minutes west on Hwy 63 from I75. Its a good road... mainly 2lane but it goes to 3 lane in some places on the hills. The Hwy 63 exit 141 is one exit north of the Caryville, Lafollette, Jacksboro exit...thats the way I go when I go to Evarts.... Not sure if that is the way u will go or not.
I need to make sure I let u know that the place down by the river does not have hook ups or electricity... didnt want to mislead u and think there was... thought your motor home might completly self contained and not need any hook ups. FYI  8)

Sounds like it should be pretty easy to run over and have a look around. We dont need any hook up, fully self contained, just need a flat spot to park.
Thanks again for the info, Maybe see ya on the trails. CB

New campground (TRAIL'S END CAMPGROUND) is located at the base of trail 3. Electric and water hook-ups are available. Call Ericka at the office for more info!
