2008 permit prices???

Just checking to see what is in the works for the 08 Brimstone permit and if anyone has heard yet if TWRA is going to lower the out of state license or come up with a permit just for land use folks?

We're still waiting to see whats upi with the state's section.........most likely the Brimstone permits will stay the same and not go up, we will try to add more trials to give the same amount of riding that the state took, Dudley has already built another 3 or 4 trails in the past month........Stakk

Also do you know anything about us out of staters being able to use the  type 094 TWRA permits for $21.00 for the end that the state took and the rest of TWRA?

Just found this on the TN state website...

Royal Blue and Sundquist Special Use Permits
These permits may be purchased for horseback riding, bicycling, and ORV use. Youths under age 13 and persons holding a valid annual or permanent hunting license with a valid permit to hunt on these areas are exempt.

Resident Annual Permit (Type 035) ______________ $61.00
Resident Daily Permit (Type 036) ________________ $12.50
Non-resident Annual Permit (Type 037) ___________ $191.00
Non-resident Daily Permit (Type 038) _____________ $30.50
At least one occupant of an enclosed vehicle must possess the proper permit(s). No permit shall be required on certain roads/trails as designated.


Note it does say at least one person in an enclosed vehicle, I'm assuming and hoping a Rhino is considered "an enclosed vehicle"!?


And this is what it had for the 094 type...

Special Season/WMA Nonquota Big Game (Type 094) __ $21.00
Valid for all County Special Season and WMA non-quota big game hunts, including Cherokee.

I'm going to call the state Monday and see what they say.....

I searched and found where there were a couple of KY atv clubs are using them, I emailed them about it and i have the sales office # for TN state, going to give them a call tomorrow and ask about all of it, I'll post back and let ya'll know what they say.

Okay I just had a lengthey talk with the manager of the ORV permit enforcement for TWRA, he said if anyone was caught riding with the 094 they will be fined heavily, and that the type 037 permit is whats reqiured for out of state and he did say that one permit is good per vehicle so 2 up quads and Rhino's only have to have one permit.

Nobody seems to get a straight answer, $191.00 is WAY TOO high

Really sounds like the state are trying to discourage us from coming into the state!  I guess TN. has enough money to make everyone happy and does not need tourism

The way he explained it to me was that they don't get federal funding, so the state has to absorb all the costs of trail maintenance, equipment, etc... and since out of staters don't pay TN tax then that is how they "equal" the costs between in staters to out of staters. Just a tad of that makes sense but dag gone $130 dfifference???!!!!

I didnt think TN paid taxes or state taxes either?
Its still cheaper then most out of state hunting licenses, right? Not to mention there are 3 different riding areas to be possible to ride in...Im out of state too and I dont like it...but my girl can go and ride for a few more years and it not cost me anything for her... just have to pay my part.
It would be a little easier for me to turn loose of that money if gas prices would drop! lol I wont hold my breath.
