Replies no longer on forum???
« on: March 21, 2006, 06:24:17 AM »
A question to the moderators:

Someone had asked a question about the property (if Brimstone was the real deal) and there were several replies including one from myself.  While looking at the forum this morning, I noticed the post and replies were no longer on the site.  As moderators do you all have the right to delete discussions between users/ permit holders?

It seems like to me that all information on the forum should remain for all to view.  People should have the right to read all information: positive or negative......

I doubled checked and you are right, it is gone. It would be the moderators privelege to delete replies since you did agree to a disclaimer before you signed on, and more importantly it is their site.  It is a new site and i am sure they dont want a lot of negative replies or comments filling the few (so far) topics.

I hope the site does well and continues to grow and able to put on a few more epidermal layers. :)

I understand about the disclaimer and the right to delete certain information.

I don't think it's right to delete replies to a question asked by a member of the forum.  It may appear that the replies are negative but actually they are simply stating FACTS.

Such as facts about the property, the lack of abundant wildlife, and the lack of pristine streams that the article in the paper leads you to believe.  I just don't think its right to mislead someone just to get them to buy a permit and then they are dissapointed because of high hopes initiated from what someone wrote in a newspaper article.

Well let's JM, I can tell you are going to be one of the "thorns" in the side of Brimstone......As far as abundant wildlife, contact George Byrd about how many deers he mounts that were killed on the Brimstone property, I am surprised you haven't heard of, or seen the Elk that were released on the "Smokey" side of the property they roam the TWRA/Brimstone property all the time....Funny you don't know about that.....Pristine streams......If you had read my other posts I made the comment that there are no big fish in any of the streams, mainly brim, a few small smallmouth bass and such......the Huntsville river does run through the property as does many larger creeks, but no "trout" steams....don't think we ever said we had abundant trout but will double check that........Back to the abundant wildlife, we have jumped turkey on every ride for the past 5 weekends, and anyone that goes on the Mt. will find deer tracks, turkey scratching all over the place.........it is obvious you are only coming on here to try to post "negative" comments and as I stated above with the wildlife in place, you are false in your comments........I ask that you refrain from being CONSTANTLY negative especially using inaccurate comments about the wildlife........if you are set on being a "glass half empty" kind of person, when actaully the glass is pretty full, then we will be forced to remove you from the forum........anyone that goes on the Mountain know's you are slamming and being negative, but the 'out of town folks" may buy into your negativity, and Brimstone recreation will not allow negative comments that aren't true to be posted......if all you have to do with your time is log on here and slam and flame you won't be allowed to continue to do it.......We want your support, but will make it without it............

JM, as someone who is not in the least bit affiliated with what is happening at Brimstone, I feel compelled to respond. I have hunted Brimstone all my life. I am here to tell you that Brimstone has the best opportunity of becoming a big buck paradise as any area on this side of the state (and better opportunity than most). Though I've never pulled a truly monster buck out of those hills, I have had the opportunity to see my family pull plenty out of there. Is it teeming with deer the way some areas like Houston or Hardeman counties, etc., in West Tennessee are? No, but I'd stake it up against any area in Unit B, and some in Unit A.

As for turkeys, again, you don't have the numbers that middle Tennessee has, especially places like Wilson County, Smith County, etc., but I've hunted turkeys there for several years with success. It is well worth the asking fee for the permit to hunt it. An added bonus is that it is one of the few remaining places in Tennessee where you can find "true" eastern wild turkeys.

It's a shame that some have to be so negative of what is a good opportunity for all of us. Like just about everyone, I guess, I would've preferred Brimstone to stay free and open to all. But things have changed, and it certainly isn't the fault of the folks in charge of Brimstone Recreation.

I strongly agree with JM about the replies!....You should not delete replies even if they r negative! Why are you so afraid of ppl saying that Brimstone is a slack-dump &  just a big clear cutting area when you know it isn't and other do too. Oh yeh by the way what is this that I hear about the County Dozer on brimstone building new 4 wheeler roads? That is tax payers money supplying that dozer!....should it really be there!

The reason the replies were not allowed to stay are the fact that this is Brimstones site and they pay for it........Look at it like this....If you were a tire salesman and had a site for your shop/products on it, and someone kept making multiple reply's that you were basically lying about your products and so on and so forth, telling people negative things, would you remove these comments? SURE YOU WOULD......And BTW country boy...the dozer was purchased with GRANT money for the sole purpose of use on ATV trails......No other reason, it is to sit if it isn't being used for ATV trails....being grant money, tax payers don't have a dime invested in it, also Brimstone recreation was renting the dozer, as they were paying for the fuel/maintanance/operation for it......So, is that Fact enough for you???????

Dang people , I thought the windrock forum was tough

I'm kinda in the middle on deleting post , if they are not true , then I guess the moderator has the option to remove them , you wouldn't let someone tell lies about  your sister would ya  ?

Maybe ya'll need to post every little thing about brimestone ( just the facts mama ) a F A Q section about who is paying for what and who is loaning you stuff and what you ate for supper the night before     and then all the hearsay would disappear a bit.

Sounds like a lot of hunters are pissed because the atvs are coming in  ?

I don't hunt anymore , but I do ride and wanted to know if there are certain areas the ATV's should not be in during hunting season ?  That would be my luck , having the 12 pointer in the crosshairs and here comes a group of ATV's  dooaaahhh .  Mutual respect .

I was told that no certain area's are off limits because of hunting.....You bought your land use permit and you have a right to ride anywhere on the property (open trails of course)......hunting season or not..........

I live in Indiana, and we came to Brimstone for the first time over Christmas week 2007.  As per the wildlife, the deer tracks were everywhere, we saw deer and turkeys 3 of the 4 days we were out, I even have them on video 3 different times, and they didn't run from the atv's we were ridding either.  We ride on a small 250 acres here at home, almost every weekend.  We see deer all the time, crossing the trails, eating in the pastures, along with turkeys and other wildlife. I thought hunting was suppose to be a sport, were you actually go and hunt them, not them coming to you, isn't that what "HUNTING" stands for?  Just because you didn't see the trophy buck, doesn't mean he didn't see you.  Some people are never satisfied, and that is the reason most people, don't want anyone on their land causing conflict.
The people at Brimstone, are the reason we all get to go there, and do whatever it is, that we are there to do.  If not for them, none of us would get to go there to do anything.  They stuck their necks out and their wallets, just so we could all get use of the property.  We should all be happy, that the animal rights activist didn't buy it, then we wouldn't have to worry about stepping foot on the place.
I would think 45,000 acres would be enough to keep us all happy.
As for the dozer, it sounds to me like these guys are doing things by the book, and some people are just wanting to stir the S**T any chance they get.
I want to thank the people at Brimstone, for giving us all the oppertunity to enjoy the land, and I hope they can over look the negativity.  If they give up, we are all screwed, and we all know you can't make everyone happy.
Thanks again guys,

STAKK - Keep up the good work you guys are doing, don’t let a couple waterheads get to you. They will eventually weed themselves out of the gene pools and we won’t have to worry about them or any offspring from them. I realize this is an old thread and it looks like JM is not around to bother anyone anymore, maybe he has been weeded out….

As for the deletion of posts, STAKK is the moderator and he can do this….if you don’t like it find somewhere else to bitch and moan. It is a Brimstone site, they run it, not you so they can do whatever they want to even if you don’t think they have a good enough reason to do it.

Brimstone isn't perfect, but neither am I, it's a great place to ride, if I'd rather go somewhere else, I'd go there. I SELECT to ride in Brimstone, it's a, work in progress, that fortunately, we can enjoy as it evolves.
