Permit question

One of the biggest reasons I dont use windrock very much is I cannot afford to bring my family with me. At 15 bucks per person, it would cost 60 to 75 bucks to bring them.
My question is, is the permit fee per vehicle or per person?
There is an ongoing post on windrocks forum right now addressing the same.
The argument is... My truck does the same amount of damage no matter how many people are in it. I understand a fee per 4 wheeler and maybe a larger fee for trucks or multi person vehicles.
Your yearly is extremely reasonable and I will be picking one up shortly. I just hope that I can bring the others with me occasionally and not have to take a loan out to do it.
Thanks for your time

I'll try to explain mudpuppy.....here's the deal, our permits work the same as Windrock's, a little cheaper but the same.....the permit is a "land use permit" that is for the people that visit our places, the vehicle you ride in or on doesn't require a permit, the people in or on them do....Why? when ever someone comes on your/my property we are liable unless something is in place to prevent this, that is why Brimstone's and Coal creek's ( I would assume but can't answer for them) insurance carrier REQUIRE'S that EVERY person that comes on the property must buy a permit and sign a waiver you accept responsibility for yourself while on the premises......It is a liability thing that requires Brimstone recreation to issue permits to all visitors......question, "Why can't the other riders just sign the waiver and not pay"?? ANSWER..... It would not be fair to all the others that have to pay...this is just one reason....The main reason is the insurance carrier requires a permit/waiver release per person........

That is the best reason I have heard sor far but I must ask:
Does the insurance company require purchase of such permit/waiver or just possesion?
Does the insurance company set the price on this permit/waiver?
Would "all the others that have to pay" not be able to differentiate between drivers and riders?
Has there been any thought to vehicle pricing with individuals signing waivers? Or maybe an operator permit and a passenger permit?
I am sorry, I do not want to come across as an a**hole. I have just spent the last 20 years of my life paying per vehicle @ tellico and other OHV's and wondering why these are different. I understand there are costs to keeping this thing going, I just think you would actually bring in more revenue with a different fee system.

The insurance co. doesn't set the permit prices, the Brimstone official's set the price to coincide with the price of the insurance policy, and hopefully make a little profit after the bills are paid....as far as Tellico, they are STATE funded and operated and insured by the state of North Carolina, Brimstone is PRIVATE operated and must abide by a different set of liability rules/fee's/etc.....That's why with Brimstone and Coal creek, when it is private operated or owned, it's a WHOLE other animal when it comes to land use compared to the state ran area's........

Stakk is correct but there is one more element. All contracts have to have consideration to make it a legal binding contract or agreement. So, for this reason, we have to charge on an individual basis.
I understand your concerns and likewise will try to help keep fees at a minimum. We want to preserve this area for recreation and it always will have costs associated in doing so.
