For a beginning ATV rider,  (1month) are Brimstone trails suggested? I know there are 2 easy trails, but I don't know if that would cover 2 days of riding. The moderate trails sound too hard maybe. I don't care for my wheels off the ground, too much water or mud, or too steep a hill, some water & mud is okay. I would love the scenery, but need a place not too difficult with plenty of miles to cover 2-3 days of riding. I dont' watn to get down a easy trail and have to come back a difficult one. I am interested in Windrock as well. Also am interested in Trails End Campground. Anyone have any info that has been to Trails end with an RV? What 's the road like to Trails End Campground from Hwy 63?  If you know of another campground, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

We have more than 2 easy trails. #1 and #3 are probably the ones your referring to. Most of the new trails off trail #43 are very good as well as 43, 44 just to name a few. I'm sure some others will post too.

You can get Trails end info from the Brimstone office, Erica can hook you up on all the info. The road is narrow but doable and their are always campers there. Its a nice facility.

Thanks for your reply. Concerning the road to Trails end...is it very long and does it go over mountains? Not wanting to travel a narrow winding road with the RV and trailer in that situation if possible. The RV is 29 ft long, not sure how wide., the trailer is another 25 - 30 feet long I guess.

Its only about 4 miles from the permit office, no mountains to cross Grin and Coolrider is right 45 footers are there every weekend.

What kind of atv/ SxS do you have if you dont mind me asking?

We have taken our 42 ft toy hauler 5th wheel to the Trails End campground a couple of times.  It is not a pleasant drive pulling that trailer from the permit office to the campground.  You really have to watch for on coming traffic.  Luckily we have not had any close encounters with anyone, everybody seems to watch out for each other on that road.  We will be taking ours back there when time permits.  You just have to watch and be careful.

For a first time visitor to the mountains, sounds a like it could be a little frightening ride to the campground. Is there another campground that is easier to get to that allows access from your camp to the trail head by ATV?

I am not aware of another campground for Brimstone.

As far as the riding goes at Brimstone, we take our 8 and 11 year olds there and have done plenty of riding on what I would call easy trails.  The 8 year old rides a 50cc atv, and the 11 year old rides a 90cc so the trails can not be too bad or they could not make it.

There is another one being built by the bridge and trail #1.

I thought the one by trail 1 was for overflow only, that Trails End had to be full first?   If it is going to be for use anytime, I would prefer it myself.

Can you offer more information about the lodge that is being built? Do you know when completion might be? Where will it be located in reference to the trails? Thanks.

The Lodge is a work in progress, it would be great if it was done by Sept. but I would not hold my breath.  It is located at the beginning of trail 1 just off River Rd.
