I will be traveling down on October 1st and leaving on the 5th. I have a few questions that I am hoping will be answered before our trip.
1. Temperatures to expect while there. 2. Is the map on the website current with the layout of the trails? I know that I have read the state took some of the land. 3. Any new regulations that I need to know about before we come up.

1. Average is 65 to 75 but you never know 2. There is a new map in the works, you can call the brimstone office and order a map or just pick on up when you get here. 3. Nope Is this your first trip to Brimstone ?

Yes this will be our first trip to Brimstone. It is just me and my fraternity little brother. Since we left school, we try and take a trip or two every year, just the two of us to get away from the women . We have been to Black Mountain in Harlan County, KY, Turkey Bay at Land Between the Lakes. We decided to go someplace new this year. We are also planning a trip to the Hatfield-McCoy trails next spring. We have been contemplating bringing the women along to one of our trips but we haven't decided which place yet.

I am from Paducah and my frat brother is from Louisville. Neither of us has been to Hatfield-McCoy or heard much about it. Since the subject came up, what are some of the negative things about the place? We were thinking about going in the spring, but you all may change our minds.

Well from where ya'll are located which is on both sides of us, it is a pretty good haul out there for one. I had heard on tv about some of their rules and actually called them to verify because we were interested at one time about going, but you can't ride after dark, there are certain trails for certain vehicles and machines "some are mixed but trucks, sxs's quads & bikes are seperate" and alot of the trails are one direction only, now this was a couple years ago when I checked things do change, so i don't want to talk ya out of anything if that may be your cup of tea but its not really up my alley! We have been to alot of places to ride I used to race quads cross country and seen alot, Brimstone is by far our favorite place to go, it has every kind of riding you want, from leasure family riding to some that almost causes uncontrolled bowel movements! BUT they are clearly marked AND classified on the map, trails are labeled to match very well, the folks that run the office and maintain the trails are all friendly & helpfull, also there is a dealership across from the office "Thompsons" that usually has about everything we've ever needed in stock and will help ya out too. Be sure also to take a camera, pretty good views there too.

Not much left to add except price. We went there 4 or 5 years ago and it was pricey. It was in november and it sucked having to be off the trails by 5 pm. I know they made some changes recently because they were feeling the pinch from places like Brimstone and Harlan County, but I couldn't tell you what the changes were. I had fun when I was there but will never go back as long as there are places like Brimstone. With you living in western ky I 'm surprised you're not riding LBL. It's a great place to ride....just limited...IMHO

We have rode LBL before. But they are so strict on what you can and can't do. We also like to get away. If we are too close to home, we run the risk of getting called back in to work for emergencies! We don't want that to ruin a weekend.

I have rode both LBL and HM and they are both strict. What they said about machine restrictions are true on the diff trails. Also, Kids have to ride certain machines and some kids are just too dang big at 11 years old ot ride a 50 machine on mtn hills in WVa. JFYI on the kid thing. The towns that u can ride into around HM are great and very interesting...but some of the same kind of riding and terrain are closer located at Bstone, WR, RB, LBL... it took me over 10 hours to get there from AL and I can be riding and having fun a whole lot closer to home by sticking closer to TN. If u onlyget to go once a year ride as much as u can at a good place....if u have time to burn and more $, u might try HM at a later date if u are curious about it. All riding areas offer good things... just some of the things they offer appeal to the majority. You wont be disappointed with Brimstone!

Why drive all over the country when you don't have to? Most peeps leisure time is precious and hard to come by...don't spend it on blacktop....hit the dirt!
